About

The person on the call does the work

Data Rescue Squad is Seth Wise — the engineer who answers your intake, runs your scoping call, writes your validation report, and does the extraction himself. No account managers, no handoffs: the person you talk to is the person in your data.

Seth has been gluing software systems together and getting data out of databases since the mid-1990s — three decades of custom integration and data-management work for organizations including Discovery Communications and Cellular One, with the last twelve years focused on data systems.

Why this exists

When software dies, the data is nobody's priority

Software gets acquired and sunsetted constantly. When it happens, every party has a defined job: the retiring vendor manages the wind-down, and the successor's importer carries what its own system needs to get you running. Completeness of the history you leave behind isn't anyone's assignment — and the market doesn't serve that gap well. That gap is the entire job here.

Big systems integrators price small businesses out of the room. Generalist IT shops underestimate old schemas and find out mid-project. So a decade of records ends up on a server nobody dares to turn off, or in a backup nobody can open.

Someone should just do this well, at a published price, with the results shown in writing. That's the whole idea.

How we work

Three commitments, kept on every engagement

No account managers

The engineer you talk to on the scoping call is the engineer who extracts your data. Questions get answered by the person with their hands on the schema, not relayed through a layer.

Documented over heroic

Every step produces a written artifact — preservation manifest, extraction manifest, validation report, load report. The paperwork isn't overhead; it's what you're buying.

Tooling-accelerated

Modern data tooling can read a dead product's schema in hours, not weeks. That speed goes into more validation and a tighter timeline — not shortcuts.

Scope, honestly

What we won't do

A short list, stated up front, because the fastest way to waste your deadline is on a firm that overpromises.

  • Hospital EHR archival. That's a consolidated specialist field with its own established firms. If that's your situation, we'll point you toward them rather than learn on your records.
  • HIPAA-covered engagements — for now. We are not yet taking engagements for HIPAA-covered practices; that stays true until our compliance paperwork is complete. We'd rather say so than improvise.
  • Work without a signed data-processing agreement. A DPA is in place on every engagement before any data moves. No exceptions, including small jobs.
  • Promises about records we haven't seen. Until we've looked at your system, we won't tell you everything will carry over. What we will promise is that the validation report accounts for every record type — including anything that couldn't, with the reason.

Retention requirements vary by profession and state; nothing here is legal advice.

The honest part

No testimonials yet — on purpose

We launched in 2026. Rather than borrow credibility, the structure carries the trust: the validation report is public, 40% of every price is due only after your own spot-audit, your originals stay with you until sign-off, and a signed data-processing agreement precedes any data movement. When real engagements exist, their anonymized reports will do the talking.

The next step
