The situation
What Patterson has announced
Patterson's own support page states the company is "no longer making updates or enhancements to any version of IntraVet" — that covers both the IntraVet VO Classic and IntraVet SQL lines. Per the same page, that means no new features, no new or fixed integrations, no lab or payment-processor updates, and no operating-system compatibility updates, including for Windows changes. Support remains available on existing functionality, but only for active IntraVet Service Club members. (Patterson support page — verified 2026-08-12)
On January 27, 2026, Patterson announced it had acquired full rights to NaVetor and relaunched it with "special offers on subscriptions, data conversions, training, and additional onboarding support." Patterson's support page calls NaVetor "the path forward" for IntraVet practices. (GlobeNewswire announcement, 2026-01-27; Patterson support page — both verified 2026-08-12)
What this is, and isn't. There is no announced shutdown date for IntraVet. What Patterson has published is an end of development, a set of dates on which specific functionality degrades, and a promoted successor. That's a slower clock than a shutdown — but it's still a clock.
The inventory

The honest part
What the official conversion path covers
Patterson advertises subsidized data conversions as part of the NaVetor relaunch offers. What it does not publish — anywhere we could find as of August 12, 2026 — is a field-level list of what a conversion carries and what it leaves behind. We checked Patterson's and NaVetor's public pages for one; the absence is the finding. (absence of published conversion scope — verified 2026-08-12)
That doesn't mean the official conversion is bad. It means you can't evaluate it from the outside — and neither can we. So we won't invent a list of what it drops. Instead, here are the five questions to put in writing to any migration team, ours included:
- Do attachments and images carry — every document, radiograph, and scan, linked to the right patient?
- Does the full financial history carry, or only open balances?
- Do audit trails carry, where your installation has them?
- Do custom fields carry — and mapped to what, exactly?
- Do closed and inactive records carry — former clients, deceased patients, archived accounts?
Our answer to all five is the validation report: every record type reconciled source-vs-extracted, and anything that can't carry logged with the reason — before you owe the balance. Ask every other bidder for their equivalent, in writing.

Your fixed number arrives within 48 hours of the scoping call and doesn't change without a change order you sign. Is IntraVet shutting down?
No shutdown has been announced. What Patterson has stated is an end of development for every version of IntraVet — no updates, enhancements, new integrations, or OS-compatibility work — plus two functional dates from its own support page: medical-reminder functionality becomes limited on January 1, 2027, and after 2030, medical reminders and inventory expiration dates "will no longer function as expected." That's decay on a published schedule, not a switch-off.
Can we just stay on IntraVet?
Yes — with eyes open. End of development means the software you have today is the software you'll have in five years, while everything around it changes: Windows updates, lab integrations, and payment processors won't be accommodated, and reminder functionality degrades on Patterson's published 2027 and 2030 dates. Staying is a legitimate choice for some practices; staying without a preserved, validated copy of your data is the risk. Our archive-first option covers exactly that.
Does the kit cover both IntraVet Classic and IntraVet SQL?
Yes. The kit includes an extraction plan prepared for both lines — IntraVet VO Classic and IntraVet SQL — with the same validation checklist and deliverables for each.
What if we haven't picked a new system yet?
You don't need to. The archive-first path preserves and extracts everything now, while IntraVet still runs cleanly, and lands it in a searchable read-only archive. When you choose a PIMS — NaVetor or anything else — the validated dataset is ready to load, and the deadline pressure is off your selection process.
How long does an IntraVet rescue take?
